Komodo Tour from Bali: Complete Guide, Prices, and Must-Know Things

Komodo tour from Bali is now one of the most sought-after travel packages for Indonesian and foreign tourists.

The combination of easy access to flights from Denpasar, unparalleled natural beauty, and the experience of seeing komodo directly in their habitat makes this destination continue to be on the list of top tourists who want to explore East Indonesia.

In recent years, searches related to "Komodo tour from Bali" have continued to increase significantly, as Labuan Bajo was officially designated as one of the five national super priority destinations by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy.

The growth of luxury hotels, premium liveaboards, and the addition of direct flight frequencies from Bali make the area more accessible - but also more crowded with tour package offerings that vary greatly in quality.

The founder of Hey Bali, Giostanovlatto, who has been operating in the Komodo tourism industry since 2010, said most tourists from Bali currently prefer one-day trip packages using speedboats from Labuan Bajo as the most efficient option.

"If the time is limited, one day trip is actually ideal because tourists can visit the main Komodo spots in one full day," he told VOI.

According to him, the most recommended itinerary for a one-day package includes six main destinations. The first is Padar Island, which offers a panorama of three bays with iconic water color gradation from its peak.

Then Pink Beach, one of the few beaches in the world with natural pink sand that also has shallow coral reefs ideal for snorkeling.

Komodo National Park is a major stop to watch komodo - the world's largest lizard - in its habitat with the accompaniment of certified rangers.

Manta Point is a paradise for divers and snorkelers who want to swim with manta rays in one of the most consistent meeting spots in Indonesia.

Taka Makassar, a white sandbar in the middle of the sea surrounded by toska-colored water to dark blue, is a favorite spot for photos.

Lastly, Siaba Island - its calm waters are known as a location where green turtles are often seen swimming freely near the surface.

For tourists departing from Bali, the journey generally begins with an early morning flight to Komodo Airport in Labuan Bajo - with a travel time of about an hour - before immediately continuing island hopping using a speedboat.

Giostanovlatto said the market price for a one-day trip package in Labuan Bajo currently ranges from IDR 1,200,000 per person, excluding the entrance ticket to the Komodo National Park area which is paid separately.

"Don't just be tempted by cheap prices. Make sure the boat is worthy, life jackets are available, and the itinerary is realistic. Safety at sea is not something that can be compromised," he said.

One thing that often escapes the attention of tourists is the policy of limiting visitors to the Komodo National Park area, which is currently limited to around 1,000 people per day.

This policy is enforced to maintain the sustainability of a very sensitive ecosystem - and the implications are immediately felt during the busy season.

"If you come during the high season without a reservation, tourists often have trouble getting a tour slot or entrance ticket. Plan ahead," he said.

Giostanovlatto added that the Komodo tourism trend continues to grow as the interest of premium tourists from Europe, Australia, and Asia increases towards East Indonesian natural destinations.

"The facilities are now much better than ten years ago. Tourists can leave in the morning, enjoy island hopping all day, and then return comfortably in the afternoon," he said.

A number of tour operators in Bali are now offering a one-day Komodo tour package with prices starting at around Rp1,000,000 per person, including Hey Bali.

However, tourists are still advised to compare facilities, itinerary details, and safety standards before making a choice.
