Arab League Condemns Attacks on Gulf States
JAKARTA - Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit condemned the attacks on Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatari waters, which he called a clear violation of international law.
In his official statement, Aboul Gheit said the attack threatened the security and stability of the region.
He also conveyed the full solidarity of the Arab League to Bahrain after the country's authorities announced the arrest of a number of parties suspected of being linked to foreign parties and attempting to disrupt national stability.
As reported by ANTARA from SPA, Monday, May 11, Aboul Gheit reiterated his rejection of any form of escalation that could thwart mediation efforts and diplomatic initiatives to resolve the crisis peacefully.
According to him, continued hostile actions can have serious impacts on regional security.
He reiterated the Arab League's support for the affected Gulf countries and the measures they are taking to maintain security and defend their sovereignty.
