Government Renovates Unlivable House for Students of People's School
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Social Affairs and the Ministry of Housing and Settlements have agreed to renovate 10 thousand houses for parents of students who attend People's Schools.
"Yes, 10,000 (houses). Alhamdulillah this is extraordinary, Mr. Ara has given one allocation that is in line with our expectations," said Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf after a meeting with the Minister of Housing and Spatial Planning (PKP) Maruarar Sirait in Jakarta, Monday, May 11. reported by ANTARA.
The house renovation program is an implementation of Presidential Instruction Number 8 of 2025 concerning the Optimization of the Implementation of Poverty Alleviation and the Elimination of Extreme Poverty.
"Where the child goes to school, the parents are empowered and supported by other strategic programs of the President. One of them is the family or parents of students from the People's School who are assisted with a program to build uninhabitable houses or renovations so that their houses are more habitable," said Saifullah Yusuf.
There are a number of criteria for recipients of this home surgery program assistance, one of which is that the land must belong to the program recipient.
"Priority is given to families who have met the requirements. Regarding land ownership, regarding security for renovations," said Saifullah Yusuf.
Meanwhile, the Minister of PKP Maruarar Sirait added that the house renovation or house surgery program was included in the PKP Ministry's BSPS (Self-Help Housing Stimulus Assistance) program.
"The President prioritizes housing by significantly increasing (the budget) for home surgery, which is intended for people who already have a house, but are not yet habitable," said the minister, who is close to Ara.
In the implementation of this program, the Ministry of Social Affairs will provide data on recipients of assistance to the Ministry of Housing and Settlements, for further implementation by the Ministry of PKP.
