Attending the ASEAN Summit Reception, Prabowo wants to strengthen regional solidarity
JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto attended the 48th ASEAN Summit dinner hosted by Philippine President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr. at the Mactan Expo, Cebu, Philippines, Friday (8/6) evening, to strengthen solidarity in the region.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said this reception was a series of ASEAN Summit activities to strengthen the solidarity of regional countries in facing various global dynamics.
"The presence of the President is part of the ASEAN Summit agenda to strengthen regional solidarity and cooperation in the midst of global and regional dynamics," said Teddy, quoting Antara.
On that occasion, President Prabowo wore the Philippine national dress or known as the barong dress.
The shirt worn by the President has an Indonesian batik-motif embroidery touch, which reflects the harmony of culture and friendship between Indonesia and the Philippines.
The atmosphere of this reception was full of familiarity and warmth. The heads of state were also treated to a cultural performance typical of the Philippines.
"The warm and friendly atmosphere seemed to color the dinner, including when the ASEAN leaders enjoyed a typical Filipino cultural performance and informally talked about the official agenda of the Summit," said Teddy.
At the dinner, other state leaders who were also present, including the Prime Minister (PM) of Laos Sonexay Siphandone, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister of Timor Leste Xanana Gusmão, and Prime Minister of Vietnam Le Minh Hung.
