Kobok Residents No Longer Buy Water, NHM Builds Clean Water Network to Homes
North Halmahera - Residents of Kobok Village, Tiowor Village, Kao Teluk District, were finally able to enjoy access to clean water directly in front of their homes. Previously, some residents had to use water from neighbors to buy water refills for daily needs.
This condition encourages NHM Peduli, a social program of PT Nusa Halmahera Minerals (NHM), to build clean water facilities through a self-management system with the village government and local people.
The facility was inaugurated and handed over to the residents on April 29, 2026. Construction was carried out for one month, from the end of March to the end of April 2026.
This program not only builds two large-capacity water storage tanks, but also installs a pipe network that reaches 21 houses and one mosque in Kobok Village.
Now, residents no longer have to walk far to get water. Every house already has its own water tap installed directly in front of the house.
The head of Tiowor Village, Iskandar Hi Karim, said the facility was very helpful for people's basic needs.
"We welcome this clean water facility with gratitude because it is very useful for us. The village government together with the community will take care of and make the best use of this facility," he said in a written statement received on Friday, May.
The community figure of Kobok Village, Abdurahman Haber, also appreciated the assistance. According to him, the need for clean water has been a problem that residents feel directly.
"Thank you for the assistance provided. May it be a blessing for NHM and Mr. Haji and his family," he said.
A similar thing was conveyed by the beneficiary, Nurlela Fatah. He admitted that the household water needs are now much easier to meet than before.
"The facilities provided are very helpful in meeting our household clean water needs," he said.
NHM Peduli implements a collaborative pattern in this program. Residents are involved from the planning stage to the implementation of construction. This approach makes the community feel that they have ownership and are responsible for maintaining the facilities that have been built.
The clean water program in Kobok Village is part of the NHM social program in the mining circle area, ranging from the health sector, education, to the development of basic community infrastructure. (ADV)
