One Year on the Throne, Pope Leo Calls for End to War
JAKARTA - In order to commemorate the exact year of his reign, Pope Leo XIV reiterated his call for all conflicts on earth to be ended.
When visiting the Papal Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary of Pompeii, the Pope from the United States highlighted two issues that are very urgent today.
"Families, which are currently suffering from the weakening of the marriage bond. Then, peace, which is threatened by international and economic tensions that prioritize weapons trade rather than human life," said the highest leader of the Catholic Church in the world, reported by ANTARA from ANSA, Saturday, May 9.
The Pope, whose birth name is Robert Francis Prevost, said the wars raging in various parts of the world were a call for humanity to renew its commitments; not only in economic and political terms, but also spiritually and religiously.
"Peace is born from the heart and we must not surrender, even though we are exposed to images of death that are broadcast every day," said the first Pope of the Order of Saint Augustine.
