Brendan Fraser Wants to Lose Weight for the Sequel to "The Mummy" Film
JAKARTA - Brendan Fraser has confirmed that a sequel to The Mummy film is being worked on. He will meet Rachel Weisz again for their roles after 20 years.
"We're going back... the only way to do it? So we're going to give the audience what's been bothering all of us for over 20 years," Brendan Fraser said on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
Fraser and Weisz are said to reprise their characters in the upcoming The Mummy film, which will be directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillette. The two collaborated on several horror films such as Ready or Not, Scream, and Abigail.
Apart from the cast, the plot and release date have not been revealed to the public. Furthermore, Fraser revealed that they will also return to the iconic place from the film.
"I hope for a long time. Several Mummy films have been made," said Brendan Fraser.
"What we will do is get ready, go back to the location. I should stop talking like this before giving anything," he continued.
The first Mummy film was made by Stephen Sommers in 1999. Then the sequel titled The Mummy Returns was released in 2001 without Fraser's involvement. The actor briefly returned in Tomb of the Dragon Emperor in 2008.
Brendan Fraser is also preparing to lose weight by explaining, "Anyway, please pray for us. I'm doing my best to make a 57-year-old body."
Brendan Fraser's career is back after his acting received appreciation in the film The Whale and won an Oscar in 2023.
