House on Fire, BPK Member Haerul Saleh Dies

JAKARTA - Member of the IV of the Financial Audit Agency (BPK) Haerul Saleh died due to a fire in his house. Eyewitnesses said the victim had shouted when the fire broke out at his residence on Jalan TB Simatupang, Tanjung Barat, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta.

"The father shouted, shouted fire. We went up again and told the residents here to immediately call the fire department," said a witness named Arpen to reporters as reported by ANTARA, Friday, May 8.

Arpen, who is also the victim's house guard, said the burned area was the work area on the fourth floor of the building.

At that time, the victim was working with colleagues in his room.

"The position is indeed still occupied by someone. Indeed, you and your colleagues are still working on it," he said.

When checking upstairs, Arpen only knew that the victim was still in the room. Then, he admitted that he did not know the exact cause of the fire.

"We went upstairs, it turned out that the father was still inside," he said.

Based on information at the location, the police will conduct an investigation at the crime scene (TKP) on Friday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman informed that Member IV of the Financial Audit Agency (BPK) Haerul Saleh died after his house was hit by a fire on Friday morning.

The South Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat Jaksel) stated that one person died in a fire on Jalan TB Simatupang No. 3, RT03/RW02, Tanjung Barat, Jagakarsa.

"For the deceased on behalf of KS (49) has been handled by officers," said Head of the South Jakarta Police's Criminal Investigation Unit, Asril Rizal.

Asril said that at present the body has been taken by ambulance to Pasar Minggu Hospital for further treatment.

At first, officers received information from the local RT who saw black smoke billowing from the third floor of the house.

"It is suspected that the fire originated from the remnants of the old house renovation," he said.

Then the RT immediately contacted the Gulkarmat South Jakarta officer to ask for help.

South Jakarta Gulkarmat personnel carried out the blackout at 08.07 WIB and completed the operation at 08.46 WIB.
