Aston Villa win big to reach Europa League final after beating Nottingham
Aston Villa has stepped into its first Europa League final after crushing fellow English team Nottingham Forest with a landslide 4-0 score in the second leg of the semi-final at Villa Park, London, on Friday morning WIB.
A pair of goals from captain John McGinn completed Villa's party, while the other two goals were scored by Ollie Watkins and Emiliano Buendia.
The victory, as reported by Antara, made Unai Emery's team qualify with a convincing aggregate of 4-1 after losing 0-1 in the first leg, according to the UEFA website.
Villa immediately appeared aggressive from the start of the match in front of his supporters. Pressure after pressure finally bore fruit in the 36th minute.
Emiliano Buendia showed brilliant individual action before delivering a mature pass that was completed by Watkins to score Villa's opening goal.
In the second half, the home team's dominance continued. In the 58th minute, Villa got a penalty after Nikola Milenkovic pulled Pau Torres' jersey inside the penalty box.
Buendia who advanced as an executor successfully completed the task to double the lead to 2-0.
Villa Park's atmosphere was rumbling when McGinn scored two consecutive goals in the 77th and 80th minutes that occurred in a similar pattern to seal Aston Villa's landslide victory over Nottingham Forest.
In the final match in Istanbul on May 21, Aston Villa will face the German team, Freiburg, who advanced to the final round after winning 3-1 in the second leg, thus winning 4-3 on aggregate.
