Iran has not made a final decision on the United States proposal
JAKARTA - Iran has not made a final decision on the proposal of the United States conveyed through Pakistani mediation and is still in the review stage, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei in an interview with the IRNA news agency.
"The most important foreign policy issues discussed today are war, ceasefire, and efforts to end the war and restore peace and stability in the region," Baghaei said, quoted by Anadolu (8/5).
He further explained that the recent discussions with Pakistani officials focused on Iran's proposed framework, which was described as a "14-point proposal" that had been submitted to the United States through Pakistan.
Baghaei said the Taliban are currently reviewing the proposal and will present its conclusions to the Pakistani mediator after the internal assessment is completed.
"Based on the results of this message exchange, the next steps will be decided," he said.
Responding to a question about whether Tehran had responded to Washington, Baghaei said Iran had not responded.
"We are still reviewing the proposal. We need to reach a conclusion first, and we will definitely inform the public afterwards," he added.
