Soroti Police Chief Threatens Transnational Crime
JAKARTA - National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo opened the Technical Working Meeting (Rakernis) of the Criminal Investigation Unit for the 2026 Fiscal Year at the Bareskrim Polri Building, Thursday, May 7, 2026. The activity was held as an effort to strengthen the ability of personnel in facing increasingly complex law enforcement challenges.
"We must also increase collaboration and synergy between law enforcement to implement law enforcement optimally in accordance with the policy of the President, especially in facing government work plan programs," Listyo told the media at the Criminal Investigation Unit, South Jakarta, Thursday, May 7, 2026.
Listyo highlighted the global dynamics which were considered to have an impact on the security and legal situation in the country, as well as the potential to create new legal loopholes. Therefore, he asked the relevant ministries and agencies to strengthen coordination and cooperation to anticipate these challenges.
"So what the President hopes for is how we can realize a sense of justice for the community and also enforce the law firmly and thoroughly against perpetrators of crimes that endanger the state and society," he said.
Listyo reminded the Criminal Investigation Unit to improve services to the public, especially for vulnerable groups. According to him, the development of transnational crime continues to change by utilizing various new modus operandi.
"Of course this is a matter of concern for us together, including cooperation with all law enforcement agencies," he said.
In addition, Listyo touched on the existence of the Criminal Code and the Criminal Procedure Code, which are expected to open up space for the application of restorative justice at all levels of the legal process, not just administrative. Therefore, he emphasized the importance of fair legal services for all communities.
"This understanding is continuously instilled to all members of the National Police, in conjunction with strengthening legal literacy to the public," he said.
It is anticipated that Rakernis Reskrim 2026 will also be attended by a number of officials and representatives of ministries and agencies, including the Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid, the Head of the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency Syahardiantono, and the Head of BNN Suyudi Ario Seto. *
