GoPay Supports Bank Indonesia's QRIS Cross-border Payment Expansion Program in China

JAKARTA - After being successful in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Japan, GoPay is back to fully supporting Bank Indonesia's program in expanding cross-country QRIS transactions in China. This is in line with Bank Indonesia's initiative to open wider economic opportunities through digital payments.

Indonesian people who visit China can now make payments at merchants using QRIS by scanning the Alipay and UnionPay QR codes via digital payment applications in Indonesia.

Head of GoPay Wallet, Kelvin Timotius said, cross-country payment through the GoPay application has shown significant growth in various countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Japan. Now, GoPay is ready to support QRIS transactions or payments in China.

"GoPay continues to play an active role in supporting Bank Indonesia's efforts to expand the reach of QRIS across countries, including the latest expansion to China. We remain committed to providing a simple, secure, and affordable transaction experience for users, both for domestic and international needs," he said in a written statement, Thursday, May 7.

The presence of GoPay payment on the cross-country network provides convenience for users to make payments abroad without having to exchange money, and users can get a transparent exchange rate.

The benefits of expanding QRIS transactions in the country include helping tourism MSMEs and merchants in Indonesia to receive digital payments from foreign tourists so that it will make it easier for activities in the national tourism sector.

Kelvin further explained that increasingly extensive cross-border cooperation will continue to encourage financial inclusion and strengthen Indonesia's digital economy ecosystem, as well as become a solution that the Indonesian people rely on in carrying out various activities abroad.
