Alissa White-Gluz Officially Becomes New DragonForce Vocalist

JAKARTA - Power metal band DragonForce announced a new chapter in their musical journey by introducing Alissa White-Gluz as the new frontwoman and member.

The move marks the first time the London group has had a female vocalist - creating a union of two major forces in the global rock scene.

Alissa's debut with DragonForce will take place soon at the Welcome To Rockville festival on Saturday, May 9, which will be followed by a performance at Sonic Temple on Sunday, May 17.

The debut performance also became a momentum for celebrating two decades of their iconic album, "Inhuman Rampage", which was released in 2006 and lasted for 23 consecutive weeks on the Billboard 200.

DragonForce founder and lead guitarist Herman Li stated that Alissa's joining was a major expansion of the band's identity. According to him, after 20 years working in the music industry, Alissa's presence brought much-needed new inspiration.

"Alissa joining the band is an expansion of everything we've done so far. Alissa's presence in the room changes everything," said Herman Li, quoted by Blabbermouth, Thursday, May 7.

"He not only sings, he makes all aspects of our music better. And he sounds amazing when he performs live! I can't wait for fans to see it and hear what we've been working on," he continued.

Alissa White-Gluz is known as a singer who has extraordinary vocal flexibility, ranging from fierce growls to clean melodies.

Through her track record with Arch Enemy, The Agonist, to her solo project Blue Medusa, Alissa has built a reputation with more than 2,000 concerts in various parts of the world.

For him, joining DragonForce was a very interesting technical challenge to explore the whole spectrum of his voice.

"I'm so excited to bring iconic music like this to life with such skilled musicians in a fun and inspiring environment. It feels amazing to be able to showcase all my vocal colors and use all my singing styles in songs that are technically challenging, very energetic, and addictive," said Alissa.

Currently, DragonForce is reportedly working on their tenth studio album with the latest lineup consisting of Herman Li (guitar), Sam Totman (guitar), Alissa White-Gluz (vocals), Alicia Vigil (bass), and Gee Anzalone (drums).

Although Marc Hudson as the main vocalist is still listed in the personnel list, the main focus at this time is on the energy transformation that Alissa brings to the stage.
