Brantas Abipraya Completes Construction of 4 Embung in Banyumas, Strengthening Water and Food Security

JAKARTA - PT Brantas Abipraya (Persero) has completed the construction of four ponds in Banyumas Regency, Central Java as part of support for strengthening national water and food security.

The four ponds that have been completed include Kejawar Pond, Wangon Pond, Alasmalang Pond, and Kedunggede Pond. Currently, all ponds are ready to be used to support the provision of water, agricultural irrigation, fisheries, tourist destinations, and to become a water reserve during the dry season.

As a contractor, Brantas Abipraya ensures that the project is built according to quality, safety, and timeliness standards. The project is part of the government's efforts through the Ministry of Public Works (PU) in strengthening national water and food security.

Corporate Secretary of PT Brantas Abipraya (Persero), Dian Sovana said that the construction of the pond not only focuses on technical aspects, but also provides direct benefits for the surrounding community.

"We are committed to providing infrastructure that is not only reliable in terms of function, but also provides social and economic added value for the community," he said in an official statement, Thursday, May 7.

For information, Embung Kejawar has a capacity of 9,534 cubic meters, Embung Wangon 12,701 cubic meters, Embung Alasmalang 25,200 cubic meters and Embung Kedunggede has a capacity of 18,028 cubic meters.

In addition to its main function as an irrigation water provider, this keempatembung is also designed to have added value as a public space. Kejawar and Wangon Embung, for example, are equipped with facilities such as intakes, outlets, guard houses, toilets, and open areas that can be used for social activities of the community.

Through this project, Brantas Abipraya continues to strengthen its role in the development of sustainable infrastructure, especially in the water resources sector.

"In the future, the company will continue to support government programs in the development of ponds in various regions of Indonesia to increase national water and food security sustainably," said Dian.

Meanwhile, Minister of PU Dody Hanggodo emphasized that the development of water infrastructure such as dams, dams, ponds, and reservoirs has a strategic role in maintaining food security.

"The PU Ministry continues to be committed to building and completing water management infrastructure in various regions to ensure water availability for the agricultural sector," he said.
