The decision on the lawsuit for Rp103 trillion to the MNC Group has not been finalized after PT DKI received an appeal

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta High Court has officially accepted the appeal filed by the MNC Group regarding the ruling of the lawsuit filed by PT Citra Marga Nusaphala Persada Tbk (CMNP) in the case of the Negotiable Certificate of Deposit (NCD) transaction.

Based on the search on the Central Jakarta District Court information system, the status of the appeal in case number 142/Pdt.G/2025/PN.Jkt.Pst is recorded as "received".

The case was registered with CMNP since February 28, 2025. This appeal step also confirms that the first-level decision has not yet been in force or inkracht.

"This decision is not final and has not yet become legally binding, so it cannot be implemented because there are still ongoing legal efforts," MNC Group Legal Counsel, Chris Taufik, said in a statement to reporters.

"We will definitely appeal. In fact, if necessary, we will even go to cassation and PK to get legal certainty," he continued.

In addition, MNC highlighted a number of irregularities in the ruling. One of them is related to the failure to prosecute PT Bank Unibank, Tbk which is considered the party most responsible for the payment of NCD.

In the ruling, the responsibility for payment was actually imposed on the defendants who were said to only act as agents or arrangers.

In addition, MNC considers that the payment obligation should not be imposed on the defendants because Unibank has been declared a Bank of Frozen Business Activities (BBKU) on October 29, 2001.

The company also emphasized that the defendants were not part of the board of directors or shareholders of Unibank so they did not have any connection with the change in the status of the bank.

Not only that, MNC highlighted the fact that CMNP had previously received payments from the state in the form of tax refunds in 2013.

MNC also questioned the steps of the Central Jakarta District Court which released a press release containing the judge's considerations on the same day as the verdict was read, while his party admitted that he had not received a complete copy of the verdict.

On that basis, MNC ensures that it will continue to pursue the available legal channels in order to obtain legal certainty and justice.

"At that time, we could only access the ruling without legal considerations," concluded Chris.
