Trump Releases US Counter-Terrorism Strategy, Targets Left Wing and Outlaws Transgender

JAKARTA - The Donald Trump administration issued a circular regarding the latest US Counter-Terrorism Strategy which targets left-wing groups and marginalizes transgender people.

In a strategy document signed by Trump and published on Wednesday, May 6 local time, quoted by AFP, the US government explicitly targets groups they call "Violent Left Wing Extremists, including Anarchists and Anti-Fascists".

The strategy also prioritizes the rapid identification and neutralization of secular political groups that are considered to have "anti-American, pro-transgender, and anarchist" ideologies.

In fact, in the document, it specifically profiled the shooter who killed Trump loyalist conservative influencer Charlie Kirk with language that ostracized transgender people.

The shooter was an American citizen named Tyler Robinson, in the document referred to as "a radical who adheres to extreme transgender ideology."

In the trial file quoted by ABC News in September 2025, it was stated that Robinson killed because Kirk, who adheres to extreme right-wing politics, was considered to have often spread information that caused feelings of hostility and hatred.

Trump, a Republican politician, throughout his second term as US President, has targeted left-wing groups that are critical with a number of strategies or policies.

Not only in the US Counter-Terrorism Strategy 2026 document, Trump also often vilified gender diversity and transgender people. In fact, shortly after being inaugurated as the second US President, he signed an executive order stating that there were only two genders.

Trump has also frequently boasted about how his administration has banned transgender people from participating or competing in women's sports.
