Geely Strengthens Global Steps, Ready to Produce EVs at Ford's European Factory?

JAKARTA - Chinese electric car manufacturers continue to expand their global market, one of the markets targeted is Europe. The latest news, Geely has reached an agreement to buy an assembly line at the Ford Valencia factory in Spain.

Citing the Carscoops website, the report in the Spanish newspaper La Tribuna de Automoción, said that Geely will use the facility to build multi-energy vehicles based on the Global Intelligent New Energy Architecture, which is the basis of various vehicles including the Galaxy A7 and E5.

Little is known about the vehicle in question, but the publication says that the Geely variant has an internal code of 135. It is reported that it will be offered with a choice of hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and electric engines.

Although details are still minimal, it is believed that the mysterious model is likely to be the EX2. This is a compact electric crossover with a length of 4,135 mm, a width of 1,805 mm, and 1,570 mm with a wheelbase of 2,650 mm, which is already present in Indonesia.

The model offers 30.1 and 40.1 kWh battery packs that offer a range of 310-410 km, with a rear-mounted motor with an output of 78 hp (58 kW / 79 PS) and 114 hp.

Although it is still unclear whether the EX2 will be produced at the factory, the publication reports that Ford may also acquire vehicles based on the same platform.

This has the potential to be an interesting Puma successor because both models have roughly the same size. Of course, it is very interesting to look forward to.
