OpenAI Launches GPT-5.5 Instant, Replacing the Old Standard Model in ChatGPT

JAKARTA - OpenAI has launched the latest Artificial Intelligence (AI) model called GPT-5.5 Instant. This model was released as a replacement for GPT-5.3 Instant, the standard model in the ChatGPT chatbot application.

The company claims that GPT-5.5 Instant manages to minimize the risk of information hallucinations in sensitive fields. They improve data accuracy in the legal, medical, to world financial reports sectors.

In addition to being more accurate, this new model shows a drastic improvement in mathematical and multimodal reasoning tests. Scores on the 2025 AIME math test show a significant spike compared to the capabilities of previous generations.

One of the features introduced in this model is a much more personal context management. GPT-5.5 Instant is claimed to be able to refer back to old conversations, personal files, to data from the user's Gmail account.

The feature was initially only available to Plus and Pro service users via the web platform. However, now OpenAI plans to expand access to the feature to free users and business accounts in the next few weeks.

The ChatGPT system will also now display memory sources to explain the origin of the generated answers. Users are given control to delete or correct inaccurate memory information.

For developers, this latest model is already accessible through the API with a special label. Meanwhile, OpenAI only gives users three months if they still want to use the old model.
