Accelerate the Construction of People's Schools in Mamuju, 750 Workers Deployed
JAKARTA - PT Hutama Karya (Persero) has accelerated the construction of the Mamuju People's School (SR) in Simboro and Kepulauan Districts, Mamuju Regency, West Sulawesi Province, by deploying 750 workers through air routes to support the acceleration of this national strategic project.
As of May 3, 2026, the physical progress of the Mamuju People's School construction has reached 21.66 percent.
The integrated boarding school complex stands on an area of 8.2 hectares with a total building area of 41,000 square meters.
"In terms of manpower, as many as 750 workers were mobilized through a charter plane to ensure that the adequacy of human resources in the field remains optimal throughout the implementation of the project," said Acting Executive Vice President (EVP) Secretary of PT Hutama Karya (Persero) Hamdani, quoted from a written statement, Wednesday, May 6.
The construction of the Mamuju People's School is part of a national strategic assignment that Hutama Karya is working on simultaneously in four provinces, namely Banten, DKI Jakarta, West Sulawesi and North Maluku.
In its implementation, Hutama Karya applied a layered acceleration strategy to overcome the challenges of limited land access to the project location in the Mamuju coastal area.
The distribution of heavy materials is carried out through the sea route using ships and barges that are directly docked at the pier.
Meanwhile, the supply of ready-mix concrete is supplied from batching plants and batching plants around the project site, in order to maintain quality and accelerate the distribution of materials.
In terms of work methods, all project areas are divided into several zones equipped with supervisors and hi-up cranes to ensure that the rhythm of work is maintained and supervision is optimal.
Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo previously emphasized that the quality of construction remains the main focus in the construction of SR.
"Continue to prioritize quality in its development, both in terms of materials and the structure of the building, because this school building must be able to survive for at least 20 years," he said.
The SR Mamuju is designed as an integrated education complex for elementary, middle, and high school levels.
The facilities built include male and female dormitories, teacher housing, laboratories, libraries, multipurpose buildings, mosques, canteens, sports fields, and landscape areas.
The building also applies the Medium Moment Bearing Frame System (SRPMM) to increase resistance to earthquakes considering that West Sulawesi is in an active seismic area.
