Minister of Education and Culture: The realization of school revitalization reaches Rp. 2.6 trillion

JAKARTA - The Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) Abdul Mu'ti said that the realization of the revitalization and digitization program for educational units for the 2026 fiscal year has reached Rp. 2.6 trillion.

Mu'ti said the government had prepared a revitalization budget in 2026 of Rp. 14 trillion which included 11,744 educational units throughout Indonesia.

Currently, his ministry has completed a cooperation agreement with 4,838 educational units, with the distribution of assistance that has reached 3,408 schools.

"The total funds that we have disbursed for 2026 is IDR 2.6 trillion," said Mu'ti as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 6.

He explained that the school revitalization program was prioritized in areas that needed improvement in education facilities and infrastructure, including North Sulawesi, Madura, and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) which had been included in the government assistance scheme.

In addition to revitalization, the government is also accelerating the digitization program for education. Throughout 2025, the Ministry of Education and Culture has provided digital learning devices in the form of interactive boards, laptops, and external removable disks for hundreds of thousands of schools.

The digitization program has been realized in 288,865 educational units throughout Indonesia. The government also ensures basic infrastructure support so that digital devices can be optimally utilized.

A total of 8,152 educational units that do not have internet access have now received connectivity services, including through the use of the Starlink satellite service for remote areas.

"What if the area has no internet? Well, the solution is that we help with the distribution of the internet channel, with Starlink we build it for 8,152 schools," said Mu'timen explained.

The government also overcomes the constraints on the availability of electricity in lagging areas. The Ministry of Education and Culture works with PT PLN to provide access to electricity for 2,389 educational units that were previously not electrified.

Mu'ti emphasized that the revitalization and digitization steps are part of the government's strategy in equalizing the quality of national education, especially for schools in remote and lagging areas.
