Iran Implements New Mechanism in the Strait of Hormuz, Ships Must Obtain Permission from PGSA

JAKARTA - Iran has introduced a new mechanism for ships crossing the Strait of Hormuz by requiring permission from local authorities.

As reported by ANTARA from Sputnik, Wednesday, May 6, ships that intend to pass will receive an email from the Persian Gulf Strait Authority (PGSA) containing transit rules, before applying for official permission.

After that, the ship must obtain PGSA approval to be able to pass through the strategic route.

Previously, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed that all civilian and commercial ship movements in the Strait of Hormuz must follow the established route.
