Light Rain Covers Indonesia, Beware of Lightning in Several Areas
JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that today's weather, Wednesday, May 5 in most major cities in Indonesia will be light rain.
BMKG Praktirawan Sufia Nur Ahadiah on the Youtube channel that was followed in Jakarta said, starting from the Sumatra region, light rain is expected to hit Banda Aceh, Medan, Pekanbaru, Padang, Bengkulu, and Pangkal Pinang.
"Be aware of lightning that can occur in Tanjung Pinang, Jambi, Palembang, and Bandar Lampung," said Sufia, quoted by Antara Wednesday morning.
Turning to Java, the weather in Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, and Surabaya will be covered by thick clouds, while Serang and Semarang will be showered with light intensity rain.
Then for the Kalimantan region, Pontianak, Samarinda, Palangkaraya, and Banjarmasin are predicted to have light rain, while Tanjung Selor has the potential for moderate intensity rain.
Moving to the Bali and Nusa Tenggara region, Kupang City is predicted to be cloudy, while light rain has the potential to rain on Denpasar and Mataram.
Then for the Sulawesi region, the weather in Manado City, Gorontalo, Palu, and Makassar is predicted to be light rain, while Mamuju and Kendari will be hit by moderate intensity rain.
For the Maluku and North Maluku regions, Ambon and Ternate City are potentially hit by rain with light intensity.
Shifting to the Papua region, most of it will be light rain starting from Sorong, Manokwari, Nabire, Jayawijaya, Jayapura, and Merauke.
BMKG also reminded the public to be on alert for the potential for heavy to very heavy rain in North Sumatra, the Bangka Belitung Islands, South Sumatra, Lampung, North Maluku, and Maluku.
