The National Police Chief ensures follow-up on the recommendations for the reform of the National Police

JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo ensures that the National Police will immediately follow up on the recommendations of the National Police Reform Acceleration Commission (KPRP) as part of internal reform efforts and institutional strengthening.

A total of 10 books containing recommendations for Polri reform were handed over by the KPRP to President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace on Tuesday, May 5. In response to this, Listyo emphasized that his institution welcomed the various inputs positively.

"In principle, the National Police will immediately follow up on the proposals that we consider can make the institution better," said Listyo.

He said one of the priority steps was to strengthen the role of the National Police Commission (Kompolnas) as part of the external oversight system.

In addition, the National Police will also coordinate with relevant ministries to follow up on the arrangement of personnel placement outside the organizational structure.

"The strengthening of Kompolnas is a part that will be implemented soon. For placement outside the structure, we will immediately coordinate with the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Imipas," he said.

On the other hand, Listyo revealed that the National Police had prepared a reform roadmap that included short-, medium-, and long-term programs. This step is focused on improving internal governance so that reforms run optimally and sustainably.

"Regarding governance, we have prepared short-, medium-, and long-term strategies. In principle, the National Police welcomes this recommendation and is ready to follow up on it," he said.
