Beware of Flooding, Jakarta Today is Light to Heavy Rain
JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that some areas of Jakarta will be hit by light rain on Wednesday, May 6, with the potential for increased rainfall intensity in the afternoon and evening.
Based on BMKG information quoted by Antara Wednesday morning, West Jakarta and South Jakarta are expected to be thick clouds from morning to afternoon, then light rain in the afternoon before returning to cloudy at night.
Meanwhile, Central Jakarta, East Jakarta, and North Jakarta are predicted to be dominated by thick clouds throughout the day. Meanwhile, the Thousand Islands area has the potential to experience light rain in the morning and thick clouds in the afternoon and evening.
BMKG also reminded of the potential for moderate to heavy rain that could occur in most areas of Jakarta, including North, Central, West, East, and South Jakarta.
The air temperature in Jakarta today is estimated to be in the range of 27 to 28 degrees Celsius.
Previously, heavy rain that hit Jakarta and its surroundings on Monday, May 4, caused a rise in water levels at a number of monitoring points. This condition triggered puddles in various areas.
The DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) recorded that as many as 115 neighborhood units (RT) in West, East, and South Jakarta were still affected by flooding with water levels ranging from 15 centimeters to 2.4 meters.
