Emergence of Artificial Intelligence as the Main Driver of Economic Transformation, Bosch Advances its 2030 Strategy

JAKARTA - As Indonesia strengthens its position to become one of the largest economies in the world by 2045, artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly recognized as a key growth engine. The government, through the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, has emphasized that AI mastery is no longer optional, but essential to achieve long-term national competitiveness. With initiatives focused on expanding digital infrastructure and developing more than 10.7 million digital talents by 2030, Indonesia is accelerating its transformation towards a more advanced and technology-based economy.

This growing national momentum creates significant opportunities for collaboration between the public and private sectors, especially with global technology leaders who can contribute to advanced capabilities and innovation. In this context, Bosch is advancing its 2030 Strategy by positioning artificial intelligence, automation, and digitization as the main drivers of its long-term growth, in a direction that is in line with Indonesia's digital economy agenda.

Stefan Hartung, chairman of the board of management of Robert Bosch GmbH, stated, "As a global technology leader, we are committed to shaping the trends of automation, digitization, electrification, and artificial intelligence, as this also paves the way for profitable growth in our business. An important prerequisite for this is the cost-saving effect of the structural measures we have initiated as well as innovations in all business lines."

Bosch's commitment to innovation is supported by substantial investments in future-oriented technologies. In 2025 alone, the company is allocating around 12 billion euros for research and development and capital expenditures, in order to strengthen its technological leadership despite the ongoing global economic challenges. Bosch recorded sales revenue of 91.0 billion euros in 2025, reflecting an increase of 4.1 percent after adjusting for exchange rate effects.

Artificial intelligence has played a transformative role across Bosch's global operations, especially in the mobility sector. With the global market for automotive software projected to reach around 200 billion euros by 2030, Bosch continues to expand its AI-based capabilities. For example, Bosch's AI Extension Platform enables highly personalized driving experiences through advanced sensing and real-time data processing, which improves safety while also increasing comfort.

Outside the mobility sector, Bosch is also integrating AI into its consumer and industrial businesses. From AI-enabled home appliances to advanced power tools with intelligent object detection, these innovations demonstrate how digital technology can improve productivity and quality of life. This approach reflects Bosch's broader philosophy, "Invented for Life", which focuses on delivering meaningful and user-centric solutions.

Going forward, Bosch remains focused on strengthening its competitiveness as the foundation for long-term growth. "Competitiveness is the foundation for profitable growth - this secures our investment for the future," said Markus Forschner, member of the board of management and chief financial officer of Robert Bosch GmbH. "This strengthens our resilience in the face of future challenges and at the same time increases our investment capacity for the future."

As artificial intelligence continues to reshape industries and economies around the world, the alignment of Bosch's 2030 Strategy with Indonesia's national digital transformation agenda highlights the importance of an ever-growing cross-sector collaboration. By combining global technological expertise with local market development, Bosch aims to play a meaningful role in supporting Indonesia's journey towards a more advanced, resilient, and digitally driven economy.

Realizing this vision locally, Bosch translates its global strategy into tangible local impact. The company reported strong double-digit growth in several of its business areas, driven by a focus on building local capabilities, strengthening partnerships, and introducing relevant technologies to the market. "We have seen strong double-digit growth in several of our business lines in Indonesia. Our priority is to continue to build capabilities, strengthen partnerships, and bring relevant technologies closer to the market as we strive to drive sustainable growth," said Pirmin Riegger, managing director of Bosch in Indonesia.

Bosch continues to expand its footprint across Indonesia through various initiatives that support the transformation of industry and mobility in the country. This includes the reintroduction of Bosch Car Service, which has grown into a network of 20 operational workshops, as well as the establishment of 32 sales and service points for automotive batteries throughout the country. In addition, Bosch has launched Home Experience Centers and Power Tools Blue Store, which provide direct access to customers to their latest innovations.

These efforts are strengthened by the "Beres, Bosch" campaign, which localizes the global brand promise of the company by emphasizing reliability and problem-solving without obstacles in everyday contexts. Through this approach, Bosch strengthens its relevance among Indonesian consumers while supporting the broader digital transformation journey.

At the same time, Bosch realized that sustainable growth must be inclusive. Through its corporate social responsibility program, "Bosch Bersama Negeri," the company continues to support educational and economic empowerment initiatives, including programs in Nabire, Central Papua, in collaboration with local partners.
