Mitski Limits Tour Schedule to Stay Productive Writing Songs

JAKARTA - Japanese-born singer-songwriter based in the United States, Mitski, spoke up about the decision regarding the format of his series of performances in 2026.

Instead of doing a conventional world tour that moves from city to city every night, the 35-year-old musician prefers a residency scheme in selected locations to support his latest album, "Nothing's About to Happen to Me".

Through a video uploaded on X, Mitski explained that at the moment she feels she has a stronger creative impulse to write new songs than spending all her time on stage.

The decision was made because he felt he was unable to balance the intensity of writing songs with a busy tour schedule at the same time.

"Right now, I feel a stronger pull to write more, and in order to do that, I have to cut back on performance activities," said Mitski.

"I can't do both at the same time. Some artists might be able to, but I'm not the type of person who can do everything at once," he continued.

Even though he limited the number of performances with a residency format of several nights at one location, the singer of "My Love Mine All Mine" emphasized that it does not mean he will stop doing conventional tours in the future. He admitted that he was very enthusiastic about the creative process he was going through and hoped that fans could be patient in waiting for the results of this writing period.

"I feel very, very excited about the potential to show you guys what this writing period has produced. I can't promise anything to you, but I'm excited about what's coming from here, and I hope you feel it too," said the singer whose real name is Mitsuki Laycock.

Mitski's global performance series has begun since the release of her album last February, opening with a six-night residency at The Shed, New York City.

Based on the official schedule, Mitski will also visit Southeast Asia in July. Indonesia is on the list of destinations, where he is scheduled to perform at Tennis Indoor Senayan, Jakarta, on July 18.

In addition, he will also stop in Manila, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, and Singapore to close the series of his tour this year.
