Meta Will Remove Avatar Feature from WhatsApp App

JAKARTA - At the end of 2022, WhatsApp launched an avatar feature to create interactive 3D animations. Unfortunately, this feature will not last long because WhatsApp will delete it.

The company under the Meta umbrella will remove avatars and their editing capabilities from the list of application features in the near future. Launching from WABetaInfo, a number of users have seen information cards containing official notifications regarding the deletion.

According to Meta, this feature is no longer relevant and is no longer a priority for the company. Therefore, the company will delete it and users will no longer be able to create, change, or share the digital characters with their contacts.

So far, avatars are often used as an alternative to profile photos and a new way to express yourself through stickers. However, Meta's push to popularize virtual reality (VR) based visuals seems to have shifted on the messaging platform.

This deletion will have an impact on the collection of avatar stickers that are often used in conversations. Although the schedule for deleting the feature has not been shared, warnings in the application have begun to be displayed to users.

For users who like to use avatars, they can make the last adjustments before the feature is completely gone. After the next update is released, WhatsApp will close access to the avatar menu permanently.

Even though this feature will be removed, the WhatsApp main profile display will remain secure and will not change. Users will only see the usual photo display in the future.
