Cambodia Deport 2,671 Foreigners in 10 Days, Majority Involved in Scam Cases

JAKARTA - The Cambodian government has repatriated 2,671 foreign nationals to their home countries for various violations during the period of 20-30 April 2026.

As reported by ANTARA from Sputnik, Tuesday, May 5, the thousands of foreign nationals deported were from Indonesia, Pakistan, Vietnam, South Africa, Cameroon, Ghana, China (including Taiwan), Laos, Myanmar, Nigeria, the United States, India, Burundi, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Nigeria, South Korea, Kenya, Benin, Russia, Togo, Nepal, Germany, Thailand, and Malaysia.

Based on the report, 306 residents from China and 635 from Thailand were involved in online fraud cases.

Other foreigners were charged with illegal migration, document forgery, staying in Cambodia without a passport, kidnapping, using a fake visa, online fraud, illegal employment, and other criminal offenses.

A large number of regional observers believe that the Cambodian authorities are trying to build their country's image with seriousness to combat online fraud and other transnational crimes.
