Hajj Season, Saudi Arabia Adds 210,000 Haramain Fast Train Seats

JAKARTA - The Saudi Railway Company (SAR) announced an increase in the capacity of the Haramain High-Speed Train for the 1447 H Hajj season to more than 2.21 million seats to meet the increased demand for transportation between Mecca and Medina.

This marks an increase of more than 210,000 seats compared to the previous season, with a plan for 5,308 trips or up about 11 percent.

Reported by ANTARA from SPA-OANA, Tuesday, May 5, the train transportation for Hajidari pilgrims from King Abdulaziz International Airport station to Mecca station will begin on Tuesday, May 5, marking the beginning of Haji1447 H.

The high-speed train fleet consists of 35 sets that operate at speeds of up to 300 km/h on a 453-kilometer line.

The journey between Mecca and Medina takes about two hours, with five main stations connecting the two holy cities and Jeddah.

This initiative supports the National Transport and Logistics Strategy and the Saudi Vision 2030 to improve services for pilgrims and make the overall hajj experience better.
