Tuesday Morning Jakarta Floods Spread, 115 RT Submerged
JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) recorded that there were 115 Neighborhood Units (RT) spread across West, East, and South Jakarta, still submerged in flood with a height ranging from 15 centimeters (cm) to 2.4 meters.
"The cause of the high rainfall that caused the Krukut River, Grogol Mampang River, Angke River, Pesanggrahan River, Finance River, Mampang River and Ciliwung River to overflow, so that they flooded the residents' settlements," said Head of the DKI BPBD Marulitua Sijabat in Jakarta, Tuesday, May 5.
According to him, the latest data there are 115 RTs and four roads in West, East, and South Jakarta that are still flooded until Tuesday morning.
He explained that heavy rain that hit the DKI Jakarta area and its surroundings on Monday, May 4, caused an increase in water levels at the Pesanggrahan Post (Alert 3) at 16.00 WIB, the Pasar Ikan Water Gate (Alert 2) at 19.00 WIB, Depok Post (Alert 3) at 17.00 WIB, Angke Hulu Post (Alert 3) at 17.00 WIB, Angke Hulu Post (Alert 2) at 18.00 WIB.
Then do Pos Karet (Alert 3) at 19.00 WIB, Pos Cipinang Hulu (Alert 3) at 20.00 WIB, Pos Sunter Hulu (Alert 3) at 20.00 WIB, Pos Angke Hulu (Alert 1) at 20.00 WIB, causing several puddles in the DKI Jakarta area.
"For water levels ranging from 15 cm to 240 cm (2.4 meters)," he said.
Currently, the DKI Jakarta BPBD is deploying personnel to monitor the condition of the puddles in each area and coordinate the elements of the Water Resources Department, the Road Construction Department, the Gulkarmat Department to carry out the suction of puddles and ensure that the water lines function properly.
