PP Tunas is Considered Effective if Schools and Parents Synergize

JAKARTA - The implementation of Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 concerning the Governance of the Implementation of Electronic Systems in Child Protection (PP Tunas) is considered very dependent on strong collaboration between schools and parents in facing the challenges of the digital world.

Education practitioner Dr. Obden Sumero Odoh emphasized that the synergy of the two parties is the key to ensuring that child protection from the negative impact of technology can run effectively.

"Schools and parents must work together. One party cannot take over completely. Child education is a shared responsibility," said Obden.

He assessed that the presence of PP Tunas is a strategic step by the government in the midst of high exposure to gadgets in children. Data shows that almost half of internet users are under 18 years old, with a fairly high usage duration every day.

Obden, who is also the Head of Tunas Pertiwi Bogor School, said that the condition was a serious warning because children are now exposed to the digital world from an early age, even before having emotional and cognitive readiness.

Without proper guidance, continued Obden, children are at risk of developing developmental disorders, both cognitively, socially, and emotionally.

In its implementation, schools play a role in building digital literacy, discipline, and character through the learning system. Meanwhile, parents are the main parties in supervising and cultivating moral values in daily life.

He also emphasized the importance of the principle of children's readiness before introducing technology.

"Digitalization is not just about following trends, but ensuring that children are ready biologically, emotionally, and cognitively," he said.

As a concrete form of collaboration, Obden encourages a regular parenting class program. This program is considered important to equalize the understanding between schools and parents in accompanying children in the digital era.

In addition, he highlighted the role of teachers who are now not only as teachers, but also digital content curators. Teachers are required to be able to choose learning materials that are age-appropriate and have educational value.

"Every digital material must be really curated and support the development of children," said Obden, also the Head of the Christian Education Major at STT LETS Jakarta.

He emphasized that the success of the implementation of the Tunas PP does not only depend on regulations, but also the active involvement of all parties, from the government, schools, to families.

"Collaboration is the key to ensuring that our children grow into a generation with character and wisdom in facing the digital world," said Obden.
