MSIG Indonesia Strengthens Travel Insurance Amid Surge in Mobility, Supported by Regional Technology Partnership

PT Asuransi MSIG Indonesia (MSIG Indonesia) confirms its commitment to provide more relevant, accessible, and technology-based travel protection solutions, in line with MSIG Asia's strategic move to partner with Ancileo, an insurance technology company based in Singapore. This initiative strengthens MSIG Indonesia's ability to meet the protection needs of a mobile and dynamic community.

Through this partnership, MSIG together with Ancileo will provide more personalized, intuitive, and easily accessible travel protection, with a simpler claims process. This solution is directly integrated into the travel booking process, either through airlines, online travel agents (OTAs), or other platforms, so customers can get seamless protection when planning a trip.

Ancileo's role in this collaboration is key in connecting MSIG insurance products with various travel platforms. Through its technology, Ancileo enables direct integration between travel booking systems and insurance services, so that protection can be provided more efficiently and consistently across markets. This approach also allows travel partners to provide protection services faster, without the complex integration process as before.

This integrated approach is also increasingly relevant to the characteristics of the Indonesian market, where community mobility is dominated by high domestic travel. In the midst of global dynamics that affect international travel, domestic travel actually continues to show a positive trend.

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the number of trips of Indonesian tourists in February 2026 reached around 91.14 million trips, an increase compared to the same period in the previous year. This reflects that domestic travel activities remain strong and become the main driver of community mobility.

In this context, MSIG Indonesia sees that the need for travel protection is not only limited to international travel, but is also increasingly important in daily domestic travel. With more than five decades of experience, MSIG Indonesia continues to innovate in expanding access to services and simplifying customer experience, from policy purchase to claim processes.

Vice President Director of MSIG Indonesia, Bernardus P. Wanandi, said that the change in the travel patterns of Indonesian people is a reflection of a more dynamic lifestyle.

"The need for travel protection is also evolving, now it is no longer only relevant for international travel, but is also increasingly important in everyday domestic travel. MSIG Indonesia is committed to continue to be a trusted partner that provides easy-to-access, innovative, and peace of mind protection solutions in every journey," he said. , in a written statement, Monday, May 4.

This commitment is supported by a consistent performance track record for more than five decades. MSIG Indonesia received the award "The Best Performance General Insurance Company in 15 Consecutive Years (2010-2024)" from Infobank, reflecting market confidence in the quality of services and solutions that are continuously provided.

At the regional level, the collaboration between MSIG Asia and Ancileo is part of a long-term strategy to expand the development of travel insurance business in Asia Pacific. This collaboration also strengthens MSIG's position in the increasingly digital travel ecosystem. Currently, around 60% of MSIG's travel insurance distribution in Asia comes from the B2B2C partnership model, including with airlines and travel platforms, with the increasing role of embedded insurance in the travel booking process.

With Ancileo's experience having focused on the travel sector for more than a decade as well as partnerships that have been established since 2020, this collaboration has also supported various integrations with airlines and travel platforms in the region, such as Scoot, Malaysia Airlines, and Trip.com.

MSIG Asia CEO, Clemens Philippi added, this step is a strategic milestone in strengthening MSIG's leadership position in the Asian general insurance market.

"We continue to invest in high-impact growth initiatives to accelerate our digital capabilities, in line with the growth of travel in the region. Together with Ancileo, we want to provide a more relevant and valuable experience for our customers and partners," he explained.

Meanwhile, Olivier Michel, Founder & CEO of Ancileo, said his party believed that this collaboration was not merely a business development, but also a step to redefine how travel insurance can provide real value to customers and partners in Asia.

In the future, with the support of Ancileo technology and MSIG's strong regional network, MSIG Indonesia is optimistic that it can continue to strengthen its role as a trusted travel protection partner for the Indonesian people.
