JAKARTA - The police are continuing to investigate the alleged sexual abuse of a number of female students at the Ndolo Kusumo Islamic Boarding School (Ponpes), Tlogowungu District, Pati Regency, by examining the ponpes nanny with the initials AS who is a suspect.
"The examination is part of the investigation stage after the establishment of the suspect on April 28, 2026. Today, the nanny of our boarding school is being investigated as a suspect," said Head of the Pati Police, Police Commissioner General Jaka Wahyudi, on the sidelines of the security of the fishermen's demonstration at the Pati Regency Palace, Monday, quoted by Antara.
He explained that before the determination of the suspect, investigators had completed the case file by examining the reporter, a number of witnesses, and expert witnesses. The reporter AS was also examined in his capacity as a witness.
"After all the series of examinations were carried out and the evidence was considered sufficient, the investigators named the person concerned as a suspect on April 28, 2026," he said.
According to Jaka, the suspect AS is currently in the Pati area and is cooperative during the legal process.
He also emphasized that the information that the US suspect had fled was not true.
The case began with a report from the victim submitted in 2024. However, in the process there were obstacles due to the family settlement efforts from the victim's side so that several witnesses had to withdraw their statements.
"Initially there were statements from several victims, but some of them retracted their statements. Until now, only one active reporter," he said.
However, investigators continued the legal process after receiving reinforcement from the testimony of other witnesses who confirmed the incident.
Regarding information circulating regarding the number of victims, which is said to have reached dozens of people, the police stated that they had not received official information to support the claim.
"We have not received any statements or witness statements that mention the number of victims as much," he said.
Polresta Pati ensured that the investigation process would continue to run professionally and transparently.
