Susi Pudjiastuti Won't Stop Destroying Ships in History Today, May 4, 2019

JAKARTA - History today, seven years ago, May 4, 2019, the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP), Susi Pudjiastuti, emphasized that he would not stop the action of sinking the fish thief ship. Susi revealed that he would not hear the voice of officials who wanted to stop his actions.

The only one Susi listened to was President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). Previously, the sinking of the boat that was practicing illegal fishing caused a stir. Most supported Susi's action. There were also those who criticized the sinking of the boat.

The presence of illegal foreign ships stealing fish in Indonesian waters is not a new thing. Weak law enforcement and the absence of deterrent effects are the estuary. The activity continues and is massive. Everything changed when Susi Pudjiastuti appeared as Minister of Environment and Forestry in 2014.

Susi dreams that all of Indonesia's marine wealth can be used to the fullest for the welfare of the people. Susi began to provide a large space for local entrepreneurs and fishermen who want to take advantage of marine products.

Susi also began preparing rules to deter foreign fishing boats. He chose a hard way, namely arresting and destroying fishing boats. The sinking of the ship then received the blessing of President Jokowi.

As a result, Susi then stepped on the gas. He began to limit the movement of the fish thieves. The arrest and sinking of the ship continued. The sinking of the ship then received attention from within and outside the country.

Susi's name then became famous. However, his actions also sparked rejection. Officials who rejected Susi's sinking ship action appeared one after another. One class of Vice President, Jusuf Kalla (JK) also spoke out against Susi's sinking ship action.

JK considers Susi's action to be damaging to Indonesia's foreign policy. JK advised Susi to secure and utilize the ship. The ship can also be auctioned by the government.

"The government's view is enough. This also concerns our relations with other countries. There are, I don't have to mention their names. There are protests, approaches, diplomatic, and various other things. But, there is still a law, namely, it is still detained, but it could be auctioned," said JK as quoted by the Kompas.com page, January 9, 2018.

Criticism of Susi did not stop. Many consider Susi's actions excessive. However, Susi still chose to perform the action of sinking the ship. He emphasized that he would not stop the sinking of the ship on May 4, 2019.

Susi considers that no one will make him stop the action of sinking the ship other than Jokowi. Susi claims that Jokowi continues to support his actions so far. He also did not forget to explain that sinking the ship is the most reasonable option.
