KPK Reportedly Opens New Investigation on Alleged Corruption of Train Signals

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is rumored to be investigating alleged corruption related to the railway signaling work project. It is suspected that there is state loss caused by the project.

Sources said the project was carried out in the 2023-2024 period. The investigation into the alleged corruption used a general investigation order (sprindik), which means there are no suspects.

When confirmed, the Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK, Asep Guntur Rahayu, did not respond further. He only mentioned that institutional information would be conveyed through the KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo.

Meanwhile, Budi admitted that he would check further regarding the issuance of the general sprindik. There has been no statement made.

"It is being checked first," he said when confirmed via text message.

VOI also tried to contact the acting director of KPK Investigation, Achmad Taufik Husein, but there was no statement made.

For information, the KPK is also investigating alleged corruption related to the construction of a train line project at the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub). Most recently, Sudewo as a former Member of Commission V of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia for the period 2020-2024 who is also the non-active Regent of Pati was named a suspect in this case.
