Pramono Gaspol LPDP Jakarta, Target Kirim 100 Mahasiswa ke Kampus Dunia

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) has partnered with the Central Education Fund Management Agency (LPDP) to mature the LPDP program plan specifically for Jakarta.

"It is in the final stages of preparation. Bappeda, then the Education Office, Assistant and Secretary of State are finalizing cooperation with the Central LPDP," said DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung at the Jakarta City Hall, Monday, May 4.

Pramono said that the reason why the Jakarta Government partnered with the Central LPDP was to shorten the time so that the program could be realized immediately. Because, if the Jakarta-specific LPDP institution is established first, the process will take a long time.

"If the institution is established in DKI Jakarta, the process is too long, even though we hope that next year the LPDP for Jakarta can start to be distributed," explained Pramono.

Previously, Pramono said, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government planned to send around 100 students to continue their studies abroad through the LPDP scheme.

Of this amount, Pramono ensured that there would be a special quota for Betawi sons and daughters and Jakarta residents.

"In the initial phase, we will send approximately 100 students. From there I will give a quota for Betawi children and Jakarta children. Because after all, as the capital and according to the law, we must also give them the opportunity to study abroad," said Pramono.

Furthermore, Pramono also revealed the plan to establish the LPDP Jakarta as a regional scholarship program that will complement the existing education assistance scheme.

This program is expected to be a strategic instrument in improving the quality of human resources in the Capital City.

According to him, the LPDP Jakarta will later be focused on supporting high-achieving students, especially from the Betawi community so that they can pursue education to the highest level, both at home and abroad.

Until now, the DKI Provincial Government has had education assistance programs such as the Smart Jakarta Card (KJP) and the Outstanding Jakarta Student Card (KJMU). However, previously both programs only covered the undergraduate level (S1).

Now, Pramono ensures that the coverage of educational assistance has been expanded to the master's (S2) and doctoral (S3) levels.

For studies abroad, it will still be focused through the LPDP scheme managed jointly with the central government.

"Both KJP and KJMU can now be S2 and S3. But for overseas, it must be through the LPDP, which will be regulated by the DKI Jakarta Government in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance's LPDP," said Pramono.

With the existence of the Jakarta LPDP and cooperation with the central LPDP, he hopes to open wider opportunities for Jakarta's younger generation to access global quality education, while strengthening the competitiveness of human resources at the international level.
