New Modus Vivendi of Crime: Pretending to be Ojol, Elderly in Pekanbaru Dies Murdered
PEKANBARU - Police have revealed the modus operandi of the murder of Dumaris Boru Sitio (60) in Limbungan Village, Rumbai District, Pekanbaru City, Riau. Before killing the victim, the suspects are suspected of mapping the location and condition of the elderly woman's house by pretending to collect online motorcycle taxi (ojol) payments.
The Director of Criminal Investigation of the Riau Police, Kombes Pol Hasyim, explained that initially the perpetrators wanted to commit a burglary at Dumaris' house. However, the plan was later changed to murder.
"Initially the perpetrator's intention was to steal, and previously they had mapped the victim's house. The victim had refused because he had never used the service," said Hasyim in his statement, Sunday, May 3.
Not long after, the suspect came back carrying a wooden beam and immediately beat the victim five times until he died.
Kapolresta Pekanbaru Kombes Pol Muharman Arta stated that the disclosure of the murder case was carried out quickly after the incident on April 29, 2026.
"This is a very heinous crime, premeditated murder. The perpetrators are four people," said Muharman.
The four suspects who have been arrested are initials Anisa Florensia (AF) who is the victim's son-in-law and is suspected of being the mastermind behind the murder. Then the initials SL, E alias I. The man SL is suspected of being the executor who killed the victim, and was assisted by E and I.
For their actions, the perpetrators were charged with premeditated murder and robbery with violence that resulted in the victim's death, with a maximum penalty of death.
