Ratas Cabinet in Hambalang, Prabowo Focuses on Labor and University Contributions

President Prabowo Subianto chaired a limited meeting (ratas) with the Red and White Cabinet ranks in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, Saturday, May 2. The agenda specifically discussed labor protection and the optimization of the role of universities in national development.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya through the official Instagram account @sekretariat.kabinet which was quoted in Jakarta, Sunday, May 3, conveyed that the meeting took place from afternoon to evening and discussed a number of strategic issues.

This meeting is directed to formulate policies that are able to protect, educate, and enrich all layers of the Indonesian people.

In discussing the employment sector, President Prabowo paid great attention to the aspirations of trade unions from various regions. These aspirations are important considerations in the formulation of government policies that favor workers.

This step is in line with the government's commitment which had previously conveyed a number of pro-worker policies during the International Labor Day on May 1, 2026 at the National Monument, Jakarta.

Apart from labor issues, the ratas also highlighted the strategic role of universities in supporting regional development. The government encourages campuses to be more actively involved in regional development according to their respective potentials.

In particular, engineering faculties at regional universities are expected to contribute directly to the development of infrastructure and capacity building in the region.

The limited meeting was also attended by a number of high-ranking state officials, including Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, TNI Commander General TNI Agus Subiyanto, National Police Chief General Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and Deputy Commander of the TNI General TNI Tandyo Budi Revita.

Also present were the heads of the TNI staff, namely the Chief of Staff of the TNI General Maruli Simanjuntak and the KSAL Admiral Muhammad Ali, as well as the Head of the National Intelligence Agency (BIN) M Herindra.

In addition, the meeting was attended by Foreign Minister Sugiono, Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto, and Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi.

A number of other officials who were present, including the Head of the Government Communication Agency Muhammad Qodari, Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Angga Raka Prabowo, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, and President Director of PT Pindad Sigit Puji Santosa.

This meeting is part of the government's efforts to strengthen cross-sectoral synergy in formulating policies that are adaptive to national challenges, especially in the fields of employment and higher education.
