Meta Acquires Assured Robot Intelligence to Focus on Developing Humanoid AI
JAKARTA - Meta officially acquired Assured Robot Intelligence (ARI), a robotics startup that focuses on developing advanced artificial intelligence (AI) for robots, especially humanoid robots.
In his statement, ARI Co-Founder Xiaolong Wang called this step as part of a larger ambition to achieve Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) in physical form.
Since its inception about a year ago, ARI has focused on developing versatile physical agents that are able to learn directly from human experience.
"Through deep customer engagement and real-world implementation, it's become clear to us that to serve the massive opportunity ahead, we need to train a truly versatile physical agent," he wrote on X.
He emphasized that the ARI approach does not only rely on teleoperation, but also on human experience-based learning to improve the scalability of humanoid systems.
In this context, Wang assessed that Meta's technology ecosystem has complete components to realize this vision.
"The Meta ecosystem brings together the key components needed to realize this vision," he added.
As part of the integration, the ARI team will join Meta Superintelligence Labs (MSL) to drive the development of personal superintelligence into the physical world, in particular through humanoid robots.
Wang also expressed his appreciation to the researchers, engineers, and partners involved in the ARI journey, including investors led by AIX Ventures.
