Commuter Line Cikarang Operations Gradually Normal, East Bekasi Passenger Volume Increases Again

JAKARTA - Commuter Line Cikarang travel operations are gradually normal after the accident involving the KRL with the Argo Bromo Anggrek Long Distance Train last week. The passenger boarding and disembarking service at Bekasi Timur Station has also been reopened and showing a recovery trend.

VP Corporate Secretary of KAI Commuter, Karina Amanda, said that the normalization of the railway line continued to progress with positive developments. After conducting a trial run of the KRL on Wednesday afternoon, April 29, the service is now back to normal operation.

However, Karina said that speed restrictions were still in place at the scene of the incident as part of security measures.

"The volume of users at Bekasi Timur Station is also gradually returning to normal and even continues to increase after this station is back in service for users," Karina said in an official statement, Sunday, May 3.

Based on KAI Commuter data, after the trial on Wednesday, April 29, starting at 14.00 WIB until the last trip, 5,266 users were recorded as boarding and 2,820 users got off at Bekasi Timur Station. This figure increased on Thursday, April 30, to 8,188 passengers boarding and 9,268 passengers getting off.

The surge occurred again at the beginning of the long holiday. On Friday, May 1, the user volume reached around 14,000 people, with 6,590 passengers going up and 7,527 going down. Meanwhile, on Saturday, May 2, 8,412 passengers were recorded going up and 9,275 going down at the station.

On the operational side, the number of Commuter Line Cikarang trips has also returned to normal since Thursday, April 30 with a total of 281 trips per day. Travel time accuracy continues to improve.

The departure delays that had occurred gradually decreased, from an average of 25 minutes on Thursday, April 30 to 15 minutes on Friday, May 1 and improved again to around 9 to 10 minutes on Saturday, May 2.

"This trend shows the normalization of community mobility that relies on the Commuter Line at Bekasi Timur Station. Moreover, the existence of the Commuter Line has become a necessity for community mobility with various interests, especially for work," explained Karina.

KAI Commuter also apologized for the incident that occurred and appreciated the patience of users during the evacuation and recovery process.

"KAI Commuter also appeals to users to continue to prioritize safety by not forcing themselves to get into a full train, and always prioritize users who will get out," he said.
