M5.7 Earthquake Shakes Western Japan, No Tsunami
JAKARTA - Western Japan was again shaken by an earthquake. Reported by Kyodo News, Saturday, May 2, the strength is not small, the initial magnitude of 5.7. The earthquake occurred on Saturday at 18.28 local time. The good news is that the Japan Meteorological Agency did not issue a tsunami warning.
According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, the earthquake was centered in the Nara region at a depth of about 70 kilometers. The tremors were felt quite strongly in a number of areas.
In Mie, Nara, and Wakayama prefectures, earthquakes were recorded at a seismic intensity scale of 4 out of 7 according to the Japanese scale. This scale is different from the magnitude. It measures how strong the shock is felt on the surface.
