WHO Calls for Entry of Essential Medicines to Rebuild Gaza Health Services

JAKARTA - The World Health Organization (WHO) on Friday called for the immediate entry of essential medicines and supplies into the besieged Gaza Strip in Palestine to allow for the large-scale recovery of health services.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said in a post on X, the organization has supported the establishment of a new family health center in northern Gaza, where access to health services is still very limited and many residents cannot access these services.

He noted that the center helps provide direct health services to residents, stressing that "the health needs throughout Gaza remain very large," as quoted from WAFA (2/5)

Furthermore, Ghebreyesus urged that medicines and essential supplies be allowed to enter the region without delay to begin the reconstruction of the health sector on a large scale.

He also stressed the need to remove bureaucratic obstacles affecting essential medicines and lift restrictions on access to Gaza.
