JAKARTA - PT PP (Persero) Tbk (PTPP), a national construction and investment company under the auspices of Danantara Indonesia, welcomed the visit of the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, in order to review the progress of the Bagong Dam construction in Trenggalek Regency, East Java.
During the visit, the Vice President was accompanied by the Deputy Governor of East Java Emil Dardak, Trenggalek Regent Mochamad Nur Arifin, Deputy Regent of Trenggalek Syah Muhammad Natanegara, Head of the Brantas River Basin Agency Muhammad Noor, Head of SNVT Pembangunan Bendungan Bagong Riwin Andono, and General Manager of PTPP Apri Setiawan.
This visit confirms the government's commitment to accelerating the development of strategic infrastructure to strengthen water resilience, food security, and flood control in the southern part of East Java.
In line with the direction of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, the Vice President emphasized the importance of accelerating the completion of the project so that the benefits of the Bagong Dam can be immediately felt by the community, especially farmers and residents of Trenggalek. On this occasion, the Vice President also highlighted the importance of synergy between the central government, local government, and all stakeholders to ensure the smooth development.
The Bagong Dam Construction Project Package III, which was carried out by PTPP, has a contract value of IDR 402.31 billion with a period of implementation of 1,473 calendar days, starting from December 20, 2024. To date, the project progress has reached 59.49 percent, from a target of 56.56 percent reflecting the project's performance which is running faster than planned.
The Bagong Dam has a capacity of 17.4 million cubic meters which is projected to be able to supply irrigation water for 977 hectares of agricultural land in the Bagong Irrigation Area. In addition, this dam will also provide raw water of 153 liters per second and play a role in flood control in the Trenggalek Regency area.
PTPP Corporate Secretary, Joko Raharjo, said that the positive progress of this project was the result of careful planning, continuous innovation, and solid collaboration between all stakeholders.
"PTPP is committed to completing the Bagong Dam project on time while still prioritizing quality, work safety, and sustainability. This project is expected to provide tangible benefits to the community, especially in supporting water resilience and increasing agricultural productivity," he said.
In its implementation, the Bagong Dam project faces quite complex technical challenges, especially because the dam construction is based on a colluvial layer that requires special engineering engineering to ensure the stability and safety of the structure.
To overcome these challenges, PTPP has implemented various construction innovations to increase work effectiveness and maintain labor safety standards. The implementation of these innovations has also contributed to the achievement of a proud project, including the achievement of the Indonesia Construction Safety Award 2023 category of Safety Innovation - State Owned Enterprise Project with the title of the paper "Tunnel Dust Buster Bagong Dam - Infrastructure Division 2", and the Indonesia Construction Award 2024 category of Service Provider with the Best Implementation of the Policy to Increase the Use of Domestic Products (P3DN) in the Water Resources Sector from the Ministry of Public Works.
During his visit, the Vice President also gave an appreciation to the project team and conveyed a message of encouragement "Semangat Terus" to all workers in the field. This support is expected to further motivate the acceleration of the optimal completion of the project.
PTPP is committed to continue supporting the sustainable development of national infrastructure and providing added value for the Indonesian people and economy.
