JAKARTA - The Directorate of Traffic of the Metro Jaya Police stated that it would carry out traffic engineering in the Monas area, Central Jakarta, which is the location of the May Day or International Labor Day on Friday (1/5).
"Our traffic engineering is done on a situational basis," said Director of Traffic of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Komarudin, as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, April 30.
A number of traffic engineering is carried out ranging from diverting or closing access to the Monas area if there are roads and heavy vehicle volumes.
"So we will make a transfer or even a closure if necessary," he said.
However, Komarudin hopes that it will not be closed so that the concept of security begins from the green zone, yellow zone, red zone and does not increase.
"Yes, we hope that we will continue to play in the green zone, which means that all roads can continue to be used for the circulation of movement of both two-wheeled vehicles, four-wheeled vehicles, and bus participants who will later enter," he said.
The yellow zone will be carried out when the situation on the Jalan Merdeka Barat, Timur, Utara, Selatan roads due to the potential for extraordinary density.
Officers will implement a yellow zone by diverting from Sarinah, Tugu Tani, and Harmoni.
"We are starting to shift or reduce the volume so that we anticipate the density to be longer and longer," he said.
Meanwhile, the Traffic Directorate of the Metro Jaya Police deployed 1,793 personnel to escort the implementation of International Labor Day or May Day which was centered in the Monas area, Central Jakarta on Friday (1/5).
The total number of workers who will participate in the International Labor Day in the Monas area is 200 thousand people and it is estimated that there will be 4,000 bus units that will enter Jakarta on Labor Day tomorrow.
"It is estimated that up to the last data we received, more than 200,000 workers will go to Monas and there are several groups that may carry out activities in several points in Jakarta," he said.
