Divert the 42nd Ship, the US Continues the Blockade in the Strait of Hormuz

JAKARTA - The US Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that it had diverted the 42nd commercial vessel attempting to break through the US blockade in the Strait of Hormuz.

"Today, US forces reached an important milestone after successfully diverting the 42nd commercial vessel that tried to break through the blockade," said CENTCOM Commander Brad Cooper via the X platform on Wednesday, April 29, reported by ANTARA from Sputnik.

"This blockade is very effective and the US forces remain fully committed to continuing the total blockade," he said.

On April 13, the US Navy began enforcing a blockade on all maritime traffic entering and leaving Iranian ports on both sides of the Strait of Hormuz.

The strait accounts for about 20 percent of the world's oil, petroleum products, and liquefied natural gas supplies.

The US insists non-Iranian vessels can still pass through the Strait of Hormuz as long as they do not pay a levy to Iran.

Although it has discussed the plan, the Iranian government has not announced the implementation of the tax.
