YG Preparing a New Boy Group, Debut September with 5 Members

JAKARTA - YG Entertainment is preparing to launch a new boy group in September. This is YG's first male group in six years since TREASURE debuted in August 2020.

Reported by Yonhap, Thursday, April 30, the new group will consist of five people. However, YG has not announced the name of the group or other details about its members.

"We are temporarily planning to introduce the boy group in September. The number of members, which may make many people curious, is five," said founder and executive producer of YG Entertainment, Yang Hyun-suk, in a video on the company's official blog.

This plan follows YG's previous announcement that a new boy group will be introduced in the fall of this year.

Yang said YG would gradually open up information on new intellectual property and artist projects. He also signaled a wider debut list, including a new girl group tentatively called Next Monster.

This year, YG is also preparing a number of major projects. Among them are the new albums of Babymonster and TREASURE, as well as BIGBANG's world tour to mark the group's 20th anniversary.

The launch of the new boy group is an important step for YG after six years of not introducing a new boy group. Additional details regarding the group's name and members will be announced gradually.
