BYD Breaks Record, Yangwang U9 Xtreme Sold for IDR 50 Billion at Beijing Auto Show 2026

JAKARTA - BYD ensures that the electric supercar Yangwang U9 Xtreme is sold with a price tag of more than 20,000,000 yuan or around Rp50 billion per unit at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show. The figure is the highest value transaction throughout the exhibition., as stated by the company's executive, Li Yunfei.

Li Yunfei who serves as General Manager of Branding and PR BYD Group said that the U9 Xtreme is the most expensive model that was sold during the exhibition. This car is produced very limited, only 30 units for the global market.

In fact, one unit was immediately handed over to the consumer at the event by BYD Boss Wang Chuanfu. This achievement also makes the U9 Xtreme the highest transaction price production model in BYD history, reflecting the surge in the position of the Chinese automotive brand in the premium supercar segment.

In terms of performance, the fantastic price is supported by various impressive claims. The U9 Xtreme recorded a lap time of 6 minutes 59.157 seconds at the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit, placing it in the top ranks of production electric cars.

In addition, this car also set records on a number of tracks in China, such as Zhuzhou, Zhuhai, Chengdu Tianfu, and Shanghai. Technically, this car is claimed to produce more than 3,000 hp of power and carries a 1,200V electrical system.

Other features include the full DiSus-X active suspension mix of BYD, as well as a high-performance braking system with carbon-ceramic discs. At the same exhibition, BYD's premium sub-brand, Yangwang, also displayed the U9 Xtreme along with other models, namely the Yangwang U8L.

The four-passenger SUV is positioned in the ultra-luxury segment and is projected to be a rival for the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600, with an estimated price of over 1,300,000 yuan.

Yangwang itself is focused as a premium line with limited production volume and high prices. The production of U9 Xtreme which is only 30 units is part of this strategy, which prioritizes exclusivity over mass production scale.

Based on data from China EV DataTracker, quoted Thursday, April 30, Yangwang's domestic sales reached 945 units in the first quarter of 2026. The figure jumped 80.3 percent compared to the same period last year which was recorded at 524 units.

However, on a quarterly basis, there was a 58.0 percent decline from the fourth quarter of 2025 which recorded 2,248 units.
