Fire at the Mediterranean Apartment, Residents Throw Clothes with the Code 'There is a Baby'

JAKARTA - One of the residents of the Mediterranean Apartment, Tanjung Duren, Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta, who was trapped by the fire threw a piece of clothing with writing.

"C 33 GK IWAN & BAYI BUJAN," it reads on the yellow long-sleeved shirt.

Damkar West Jakarta information post officer Seman said after being traced, the meaning of the writing, namely residents trapped on the 23rd floor, room number 33, and there was a baby.

"One adult, the same two babies," Seman told ANTARA at the Mediterranean Apartment, West Jakarta, Thursday, April 30.

The residents were immediately evacuated and were able to be rescued in good health.

On the Damkar information board, officers continue to update the data of residents who have been evacuated and residents who are still trapped inside the burning building.

The residents who have been rescued immediately headed to the information post to report their relatives or acquaintances who are still trapped.

Until 10.35 WIB, there were 60 residents who had been evacuated and 18 residents who were still trapped.

A number of names on the list of residents who were previously trapped were also circled, indicating that they had been safely evacuated.

Previously, firefighters evacuated a number of residents of the Mediterranean Apartment who were trapped due to a fire that hit one of the residential buildings, Thursday morning.

ANTARA's monitoring at the location at 09.25 WIB, a number of residents who were trapped were evacuated from the opposite side of the building that was on fire.

The thick smoke billowing inside the apartment made the officers forced to evacuate through the outside of the building.

The evacuation ladder was installed in stages from the ground floor to the sixth floor of the building and one by one the trapped residents were lowered.

Residents who were evacuated were tied with ropes so that they would not fall down the stairs.

At the information post, officers listed the residents who had been evacuated and the residents who were still trapped inside the burning building.
