Pick up the Ball to the Detention Center, Pekalongan City Government Ensures that Inmates Do Not Lose Civil Rights
PEKALONGAN - The Pekalongan City Government through the Population and Civil Registration Office (Disdukcapil) continues to accelerate the updating of population data for inmates at the Pekalongan Class II A Detention Center (Rutan).
This strategic step is carried out through the "pick up the ball" service to ensure that each child from the area has a valid and nationally integrated identity.
The Secretary of the Pekalongan City Disdukcapil, Muhamad Lutfi, emphasized that the fulfillment of administrative rights of population is a basic right that must still be fulfilled by the state even though a person is undergoing a training period.
This update process includes a series of strict identity verification, ranging from recording biometric data to synchronization with the national population database.
Lutfi explained that this proactive approach is crucial to improve the data of the residents who may not have been valid or left behind in the system.
"Through a proactive approach, we ensure that no one of the residents is left behind in fulfilling the basic rights of population administration," said Lutfi, quoted from ANTARA, Thursday, April 30, 2026.
The accuracy of this data is not merely an administrative matter, but a key for the residents to access various other basic services.
One of the most vital benefits of having a valid NIK is access to health insurance through the Fee Recipient (PBI) scheme.
With the latest data, the inmates can be accommodated in the government's health protection system in a targeted manner, so that their rights as citizens are still guaranteed in the prison.
The synergy between the City Government and the Pekalongan Class II A Prison was welcomed by the inmates.
Head of the Sub-Section for Prisoner Services, Anang Saefulloh, stated that this verification and matching of biometric data is an important instrument in ensuring the civil rights of inmates.
According to him, the current correctional system does not only focus on behavioral guidance, but is also responsible for ensuring the fulfillment of the basic rights inherent in each individual.
This collaboration is expected to become a model for other regions in providing inclusive public services regardless of social status.
With accurate population data, it is hoped that the inmates will be easier to reintegrate into society after their sentences are completed.
"This synergy is the key to realizing a correctional system that ensures the full realization of the civil rights of inmates," concluded Anang.
