Kasad Reveals Clean Water Program to TNI AD Bridge Designed to Answer Community Needs
JAKARTA - Various flagship programs of the Indonesian Army are designed in line with the policy of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto to respond to the needs of the community, based on the actual conditions that occur.
This was explained by the Chief of Staff of the Army (Kasad) General TNI Maruli Simanjuntak, M.Sc., when revealing the achievements of various flagship TNI AD programs that directly touch the needs of the community, ranging from the provision of clean water, bridge construction, to waste management, in the Commander's Appeal of TNI Units (Dansat) for the 2026 Fiscal Year at the Defense University (Unhan) Sentul, West Java, Wednesday (29/4).
In his presentation, Kasad emphasized that the TNI AD not only focuses on the aspect of defense, but also plays an active role in helping accelerate development and improving people's welfare, in line with the policies of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto.
These programs are designed to respond to the real needs of the community, especially in areas that still face limitations in access to infrastructure and basic services.
In the field of clean water, Kasad explained that the borewell program was born from direct experience seeing the difficulties of the community in obtaining water, including in drought-stricken areas.
"So frankly, I dig information about this water while walking, so it's not because I have information, then make these water programs," he explained, launching the Dispenad statement, Thursday (30/4).
As a result, based on data, since 2020, 7,217 water sources have been built in various regions of Indonesia to improve the quality of life and public health.
Regarding infrastructure development, Kasad said the TNI AD targets to build 1,244 bridges for the benefit of the community, with 336 bridges completed and 908 bridges in the process of being worked on within a period of about 1.5 years.
This program is part of efforts to strengthen regional connectivity, including through the construction of pioneering bridges targeted at more than 7,000 units throughout Indonesia, in line with the Garuda Merah Putih Bridge program initiated by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto.
Meanwhile, in the environmental field, the TNI AD also encourages collaboration with local governments and related institutions in waste management based on community participation.
Kasad explained that the sorted waste will be processed into alternative fuels in the form of solar, as an innovative solution in overcoming environmental problems while supporting energy security.
Kasad hopes that the Dansats will be able to optimally implement all of these programs in the field, by continuing to innovate, responding to community needs, and strengthening synergy with local governments and all components of the nation.
This is in line with the purpose of holding the 2026 TNI T.A. Dansat Apel, which is to be a strategic momentum to align visions and steps in supporting the main tasks of the TNI while strengthening real contributions to national development.
